Pray for continued growth of Covenant City Church in Jakarta and Jackie’s smooth transition to life there. Pray for good connections with her team and to quickly build relationships, and that she will be able to encourage the core group at the Church in their walk. Pray she will faithfully carve out meaningful time with the Father each day in the midst of transition and have a heart open to what He will teach her.
Pray for Robby as he underwent knee replacement surgery yesterday, and for Joyce as she helps him recuperate. The Philemon project is going well with 75 children, 16 trained staff, a qualified director and a nurse. They are developing an adult mentoring program which focuses on positive parenting and the love of Christ. Pray for this much needed ministry that demonstrates the gospel in humility, love, kindness, respect, and gentleness.
Andy and Brooke are feeling the effects from a summer of meeting hurting people and learning of great needs, yet they still have the obligations to teach and serve the students and teachers where they live. Pray for God to rejuvenate and give them stamina for their work. Pray also for God to work in the “Hand in Hand” programs calling participants to long term service and drawing laborers for the harvest field beyond E Asia. Pray for Brooke as she home schools both girls.
Pray for Lizzie L. as she assembles her prayer and support team and looks forward to joining Dan and Stefanie on the EPC team in Central South Asia next year. Pray for family acceptance and that her preparation time will be used for the Lord and that she can finish well. Pray the delightful exuberance she exhibits will continue as she prepares for a new long term adventure in a dark and needy place.
The legislation restricting religious freedom in Russia has passed and gone into effect. The law mostly targets foreign missionary activity which has been defined and restricted though not completely forbidden. Valery is uncertain of the effects on Wycliffe Russia but is trusting God to provide resources, personnel, and security to accomplish the work He has given them to do. Pray for Wycliffe Russia, its staff and members.
Norm and Ruth Ann rejoice that Pioneers’ Fletcher Center has been completed after 18 months. They ask prayer for Aldin, a young Muslim in Bosnia, and for his family to continue their growth in the Lord, for the children in Europe who heard the Gospel through English and youth camps, and for several who became believers at camps in Croatia and Hungary. Pray for wisdom and stamina for Norm as he works to steward the resources entrusted to Pioneers-US.
Ryan & Glenda are grateful a re-examination of Rachel’s eyes indicated no major problem. Though 1/3 of the patients at the hospital are refugees, because the dental clinic is mobile, they are still able to target Bedouins in the desert and focus specifically on them for dental and community health. Pray for open hearts and spiritual conversations as they work in a new village, and for their children to adjust to fewer kids their own age around.
Daryl and Marlene Bussert ask prayer for the person they talked with. who will be retiring from the military in two years and is qualified to serve with JAARS, to have clear direction if this is the place for him. Much effort is being put into the AIM AIR audit. Pray this large, complicated endeavor involving various organizations can be accomplished without major adjustments required.
After delays enroute, Rachel C. and her team arrived in their E. Asian city. She is settling into her 19th floor apartment overlooking a very large city with many lost people in it, and learning to ride a scooter. Pray for safety, team unity, students with open and desirous hearts for the gospel, bold, clear communications when sharing the gospel, and that she will become a more humble, wise, encouraging, and gracious woman of faith and prayer.
As regional advisors, the Youngs are confronted with many needs and opportunities among their teams. Pray for a business manager to help develop an adventure business to the mountains where J & K and their team work with a special tribe of people. Pray for wisdom as the Youngs seek to have MEDIC involved in the very needy S’ganj community. Pray that they will reflect Jesus in this place where He is not yet known and that God will continue to answer prayer in working in the lives of S & R with whom they have tried to work in that area.
