Stephen & Marion

It is sweet to hear from missionary children. Charlotte, the sixth of Stephen and Marion Spencer’s children, shared about her role as aunt to Jon Jon’s three kids, and excitement in welcoming brother David and pregnant wife Katie to the African Bible Institute in late summer. Caleb is getting married this summer and the family will be in the States for that. Pray for wisdom and discernment for Stephen and Marion as they make decisions about starting a Christian Liberal Arts college.

Tim & Huilan

As Academic Dean of the seminary, Tim M is knowledgeable about new government regulations concerning religious gatherings, which is also a source of personal trial for him and his family. He is concerned for the seminary graduates and what they may face. Tim has a visa, but renewal is unsure after they return from home assignment in December. Pray for security issues in the country with the new regulations causing a lot of challenges. Pray for his family as they get Ethan ready for college this summer and consider schooling options for Micah and Ciana while on home leave.

Andy & Brooke

Reaching students for Christ on college campuses takes time and commitment. This is true throughout the world. In his role with Campus Outreach, Andy desires to see college students grow in Christ and he knows strong local leadership leads to growth. Pray for the Thai Summer Project, a key time of leader development and training for emerging Thai student staff leaders. It propels leaders into ministry for the next year and fuels their personal growth.

Roger & Abi

Roger and Abi Lowther and their boys are on furlough in Memphis. Since arriving in Tokyo 13 years ago, eight churches have been planted in the Grace network with much of the growth attributed to the arts. Chieko, a gifted player of the Koto, a Japanese harp, became a Christian and was ready to give up playing until she realized it could be used to the glory of God. Now she is in the worship leadership of the church. Pray for removal of the lingering pain in Abi’s back and neck from a car accident soon after they arrived here, and for the ongoing involvement in their ministry and visiting friends.

For more info on Roger & Abi see page 60 of the prayer guide.

Rob & Tunde

Rob Futo was greatly encouraged by the large number of people in the membership class as many of them indicated they were ready to join the church. They are preparing for the youth group’s week-long camp and inviting high school students from all over Budapest to join them at their ministry center. Pray all these plans come together for a productive summer. The Futos are preparing for a six-week trip to the US and will return just before the camp starts.

For more info on Rob & Tunde see page 44 of the prayer guide.

Bill & Lauren

Bill and Lauren Finnell had a delightful orientation and commissioning service by their new sending agency CRM in London, at the church where John Newton served as rector for 25 years. Then it was back to Spain to host the annual week-long assessment and training for the 18 missionaries and their families who have served for 5+ years, and Bill and Lauren had the privilege of leading the children’s program. Pray for the Finnell family and their ministry.

For more info on Bill & Lauren see page 39 of the prayer guide.

Juan & Maria

The Presbytery, that Juan Patt is a member of, had a two-day conference on the revitalization of the church. Pray the leaders who attended were stimulated to put into practice some of the ideas they heard. Pray for Juan as he spends a few days in the US sharing with supporting churches, who regularly send summer teams, what is going on in the ministry in Corozal and Calcutta. Pray both congregations will grow and flourish.

Steffen

Steffen Weil has a desire to establish churches in cities in East Germany as soon as possible and has been in the US recruiting support. His leadership team at Mittendrin has grown and just sent a team to Cottbus for their first daughter church. Pray for Steffen’s family who are scattered to many locations, and for more interns they can train to send out as church planters.

Brian & Joanne

Praise that Covenant Hope Church was granted permission to meet on the beach for an Easter sunrise service and to join with another church also given permission. They numbered in the hundreds and sang of our Savior conquering sin and death through his death and resurrection. Pray the governmental restrictions imposing an assigned meeting place and outreach for evangelical churches will be rescinded, and that Brian P and his congregation, along with other churches, can return to better locations and the unhindered work of the Lord.

For more info on Brian & Joanne see page 12 of the prayer guide.

Daryl & Marlene

Daryl Bussert asks prayer for the families attending the pre-field orientation course at JAARS that runs through June. These six families will be assigned to the program in New Guinea in both fixed-wing and helicopter operations, and AIM AIR in Kenya. It is intensive training in preparation for their field assignment and there are 16 children among the families. Continue to pray for the preparation for the PNG Audit July–Aug., as there are still many details to be defined and incorporated.
