Philip and Hannah James, along with three members of Downtown Church leave today for Argentina. The team will work with Kyle and Claudia Zimmerman and La Mision church at a weekly VBS camp and woodworking class in Merlo, multiple Sunday worship services, and various small groups. The purpose of the trip is to visit and encourage our mission partners and to learn how they are growing and caring for their church. Please pray for fruitful ministry opportunities and open eyes and hearts to be molded by the Lord’s work in Buenos Aires.

John reports that construction is underway on the first hatchery building for the mari-culture project. He gives praise for protection through a difficult situation in which they were targeted with a bribery/extortion scheme. There is also praise for the three new church planters on the team and positive relationships in the three villages. Pray for ongoing protection for the project, the local workers and especially the church planters. Pray for wisdom for John as he leads these efforts.

Thomas and Jennifer are at a crossroads as their teammates are leaving the ministry and they have taken on the future pastor and his wife. However, they are far from ready to take over the church and have several personal issues. Pray as they plan and work to equip this new pastoral couple to lead the church. One of their four appointed Taiwanese coworkers is going through a very intense personal struggle, pray for God’s intervention in this situation. Church attendance is down, pray for creative ways to outreach and grow the church.

Pray for spiritual fruit as Tim Byrd and his CO team continue to challenge Zambia students to join them in discipleship and participation in the local church. He was refreshed by the visit from his family following the death of his grandfather and prays for more times of refreshment with family and friends. The team has been dealing with a lot of sickness, pray for diagnosis and healing for three staff members as well as Tim.

Jackie has moved into a new apartment suitable for hospitality and hosting groups. She is grateful for the successful transition of the church to two services and asks prayer for unity despite the two services and for strength and perseverance for the servant teams. Pray for connecting with partners for a potential Saturday outreach that would enable her to share with majority folks. Pray for the family from Second who recently visited there to have clarity for their long-term vision, and for more leaders as the church grows.

The economic crisis in Argentina has greatly affected La Mision’s daycare program – pray they can find resources to sustain the program and outreach to the neighborhood. The church has 5 worship centers and is actively growing. Pray for the leaders and the session as they guide and lead these centers. Pray for Marcelo as he parents Vicky, juggles his many responsibilities to the Presbytery and oversees a growing church network.

Coming back from his agency’s International Conference in SE Asia and spending a week in Malaysia have inspired Greg to continue his mission. Being among 700 workers leading ministry to Muslims further reminded him of his role in preparing leaders who can recruit their own team and plant them in Muslim areas. Toward this goal he hosted the four day “Aspiring Team Leader Huddle”. Pray gifted leaders and potential teams will come from this.

Dave and Joyce continue their ministry in Papua. Pray for Joyce and her friend Rita who are there checking the literacy progress and the math series Joyce is in the process of developing in the Bauzi language. Concerns have arisen which may mean Dave and Joyce need to return to the area for 2 or 3 years, troubling to them as they are older with health issues and cleared out all their belongings there. Pray for this decision, Rudi’s health, and for the long-distance work between Rudi, Yormi and Dave.

Prayer undergirds John and Dawn’s ministry to teams and individuals in the SAMSEA region. The joys of seeing fruit for the kingdom is sometimes countered by spiritual attacks. Pray for the three leaders who encountered unusual and significant cardiac incidents and another who was diagnosed with lymphoma. Pray for the international couple John and Dawn had the joy of uniting, that many non-believers who attended the event will come to participate in Christ’s kingdom.

Pastoring a church with dozens of satellite sites presents some real challenges. With professional help Paul videos and edits the sermon, prepares the music and bulletin which is then delivered to each site. Pray for protection, healthy spiritual life, and hearts of leaders to care for members in each site. Pray for establishing support to each group and that this might become a church planting movement allowing them to start new missions in other cities.
