Bob & Janie

The refugee camp on the island of Lesbos, Greece had its first COVID case. Bob and Janie ask prayer for EuroRelief, the ministry they work with there, as they seek to minister at the camp during this stressful time. Pray for the 13,000 immigrants and refugees at the camps as many were left homeless after a fire broke out. Update: Praise the Lord that a team of Europe based GEM missionaries was able to get to Lesbos to minister to refugees and new tents are being set up for the homeless.

Aaliyah

She is teaching Social Studies and History at Bingham Academy, where Scott and Tina Lawrence’s boys attend school. Pray for her continued adjustment to a new country and culture, teaching at an International school, and to make new friends.

Jackie

Jackie gives praise that the study on 1 Peter was a fruitful time of ministering both to women who are new believers and women who are leading others. She and Amanda also give praise that there are 17 small groups studying Proverbs – this is a huge answer to prayer! Continue to pray for Jackie to get a visa to return to Jakarta, for meaningful connection with people there while she is still in the U.S., how to walk alongside people going through dark times, and for God to give her wisdom as she seeks to love and guide others toward His truth and that He would be near to those who are hurting.

The Youngs

The Youngs share their city is now a COVID hotspot. Under normal circumstances, healthcare in their city is a problem and many have lost loved ones. The Youngs, through their contacts, have been able to help get basic supplies to about 600 people. They feel strongly that God has them there “for such a time as this” to provide quick help to those in acute need. Pray that God will help them be patient through this time of waiting and isolating and help them to be His hands, feet, mouth, and ears to the people in their city.

For more info on the Youngs see page 53 of the prayer guide.

WR Cambodia

Thank God World Relief Cambodia was able to distribute food to 150 vulnerable families in their church empowerment zones. Pray God will continue to give them wisdom to engage these families with the gospel, and that they will be able to equip church leaders to serve those in need in their community, particularly since Christians are a minority in every community. Pray for the WR staff as there is no testing right now in Cambodia/only for people entering the country. People know it is spreading but are not sure where, pray for safety as the staff travels from village to village.

Brian & Joanne

Brian and Joanne give praise they were able to add another intern because travel between India and Dubai reopened for visitors in August. They brought in a pastor who has never been a part of a healthy, gospel centered church. He came out of a prosperity gospel church and wants to grow in his pastoral abilities. His name is Mario Peter and he pastors Light of Life Community Church in Mumbai. He began the program in September. Pray for Brian as he trains and mentors Mario to grow in his abilities and learn to pastor a healthy, gospel centered church.

Jeff & Katie

Following his busiest month in Japan, Jeff and Katie realized the need for rest. They ask prayer for those in Japan in desperate need of physical rest and for many Japanese to come to see their greater need for God’s lasting rest. Recently, RUF Tokyo spent 8 weeks in prayer sessions for both U.S. supporters and their Japanese church which prayed at the same time for the same requests. Pray those who participated felt connected to their Japanese brothers and sisters and that everyone grew in faith and joy as they saw how God answered their prayers.

Faith

Faith and Seme share that married life is busy! They ask prayer for the Lord to give them patience and understanding toward one another as they get used to each other and that they will have a strong foundation in the Lord and be able to find him amidst their busy schedules. Pray for them to have wisdom as they lead and guide this young church and for Faith as she will be applying for a work visa through Seme’s church.

Pray for the Indonesia Partnership, meeting Oct 12-13, to strategically support and empower the 6 PARI teams working in West Java. These teams continue to try to meet people and follow up with former contacts even during the pandemic.
