Greg rejoices the ministry house in the UK is visited daily by Pakistani families who have been befriended by one of the team, and that Pastor Amjad and his wife are very welcoming. The garage has been renovated as an overnight shelter for Muslim converts whose family is threatening them. Pictures of the beginning of a Pakistani church in this area are encouraging yet overwhelming in a country with 1.3 million Pakistani Muslims.
Pray for Mitchell as he leads our congregation this morning. Pray that when he returns home, he will be able to mobilize and support student leaders in each department at the University and that they might develop outreach and equipping ministries in their field. Pray that God would give Lisa clear direction for her next phase of ministry in Indonesia and for God’s peace for the family.
Pray for each of our members to have meaningful interactions with our missionaries and for God to work on the hearts of those he wants to use in some special way for His global plan. Pray for our members to be called to pray for our missionaries, support financially, and/or go where He may be calling us. Pray our church will respond with grateful, obedient hearts.
As the World Missions Conference begins this weekend, pray for a growing awareness of our brothers and sisters in Christ who are His ambassadors in so many areas of the world. Pray for our hearts to be called to prayer for many of them who serve in areas opposed to the gospel. Pray God will create in our members a strong desire to be part of His vision for the world.
Extended congratulations to Judy Mbugua on being awarded “The Lion of Judah Award” for distinguished Christian service as she has given 21 years of service to the Pan Africa Women’s Association and Homecare Spiritual Fellowship (HSF). Malawi is a poor country but the church is vigorous and growing and African Bible College where Larry Brown teaches is helping to produce the leaders of tomorrow. He indicates that there continues to be peace and harmony between Christians and Muslims, unlike other parts of Africa. Pray for Larry in his role as a single father to Carey who is now a seventh grader, quite athletic, doing well in his grades, and very social.
Pray for wisdom, patience, and courage for Rob and Tundi Futo to lead their new church in the right direction and for a permanent church home. Planting a new church is much harder than Rob ever dreamed, pray for encouragement and support all along the way. Pray they will be able to start a few small groups as planned that will give strength and vitality to this new church.
Having a refugee center directly across the street from her daughter’s school and around the corner from where they live has given Leslie Hazelwood Kuhn a new perspective on the plight and opportunities to reach people who come to Germany as refugees, and non-Christians who are also volunteering. Pray for wise use of her time and witness. Pray for the German GEM field retreat later this month and for the new staff to quickly acclimate to the area, culture, and language.
Marcelo Robles reports that new, more intense discipleship programs are starting in all three La Mision locations. Pray for the new childcare program in the shantytown of Las Flores that has more than 150 children and is in need of volunteers. Pray it will have a broad impact on the city. Marcelo’s daughter Vicky will start in a new school next month, pray he can find a new apartment for them in the Palermo community.
Scott, Tina and their boys feel fortunate they quickly made friends after arriving in Ethiopia and found soccer as a great way to meet people. Scott participated in a cataract outreach in rural Ethiopia and saw the amazing reaction of people on the morning after their surgery. The team plans to participate in more outreaches as they finish setting up the permanent eye center. Pray Scott & Tina’s efforts will not only give sight to the physically blind but also give spiritual sight to many they come in contact with.
