The Youngs

The Youngs have returned home from a trip to Vietnam connecting with a group of churches and looking into partnering opportunities. They ask prayer for twins, born to Munna and Pushpa, one of whom had some health issues. Pray their witness to their grieving neighbor will open doors to share the Gospel. They are grateful that Heidi, who is from Mexico, has joined their team and possibly opened doors for equipping other cross-cultural workers through teaching opportunities.

Dave & Robin

Dave and Robin are interviewing candidates to lead a 3-week soccer camp in N. Iraq. Pray for this ongoing opportunity for young men to be part of soccer teams and to coach and mentor young men whose lives have been uprooted by war. They will have teachers at all three Mede schools this year and rejoice that a financial planner has given up all to go and mentor teens in these schools. Also a staff family is leaving Iraq to move to Turkey to start a ministry to assist churches of refugee converts.

Brian & Joanne

Praise for the opportunity Brian had when asked to host a memorial for a member of the Outdoors Club. Approximately 30 non-believers, whom he had never met, heard the story of Lazarus’ resurrection. Pray for ongoing connections with Muslims and Hindus who attended. He is training eight men in preaching techniques and pray God will raise up men capable of teaching the Bible. Pray for the two interns, Karson and Harshit, to learn and grow this year.

For more info on Brian & Joanne see page 83 of the prayer guide.

Tim & Huilan

Praise for Tim’s successful gallbladder surgery and recovery which allowed him to travel to Asia for ministry related activities. The on-line seminary is going well with 100 men and women trained in the recent semester. Huilan’s work with Parakaleo and his seminary leadership are moving forward despite continual pressure in many locations. Pray for wisdom as they train church leaders from places hostile to the Gospel.

For more info on Tim & Huilan see page 26 of the prayer guide.

Bob & Janie

Bob and Janie are leading a team to Greece to assist teams helping in the refugee camps and an outreach center. Eighty Muslims have come to faith in the last year. Pray for Amir, the Imam, who came to saving faith and now heads a team called “Church on the Road” ministering in Germany and around Europe. He and his wife are under life threat, pray for his heart and mind to be relieved from the extremely difficult thoughts of the past and for protection for him and those close to him.

For more info on Bob & Janie see page 57 of the prayer guide.

Paul & Nora

Paul’s church had experienced tremendous growth in recent months but has now been shut down by the authorities. In anticipation of this, they prepared and planned to move to worshipping in small groups. Most of the churches in the presbytery have been shut down from public service and have moved to small group mode. Pray these congregations will thrive and grow in depth and numbers. Pray for those still held by authorities that their witness will be strong inside and outside their confinement and that God’s Word will sustain and comfort them.

For more info on Paul & Nora see page 28 of the prayer guide.

Daryl & Marlene

Pray Daryl Bussert and the JAARS team were able to encourage and provide practical help to the aviation team in Cameroon during the recent audit. Daryl asks prayer for the new assignments coming up as there will be a reasonable amount of domestic travel for him as he orients Chris Lifto into JAARS and introduces him to people and organizations with whom they work. Pray for effective administrative, strategic and technical transitions.

For more info on Daryl & Marlene see page 53 of the prayer guide.

Ruslan & Zhanna

Pray for the hundreds of kids who went to Young Life camps throughout Central Asia, particularly the 70 who attended camp with the 2PC summer team. Pray they will be drawn to the club activities and Bible studies run by Ruslan and Zhanna and their teams, and that they will come to know Christ. Pray for a solid launch to the school year, that young people will reconnect with the various youth ministries and YL activities in Almaty.

For more info on Ruslan & Zhanna see page 22 of the prayer guide.

Dave & Joyce

Dave and Joyce continue their involvement with the Bauzi people. His mother tongue translator, Rudi, is extremely ill, pray he will be able to join Yormi for a week-long course on Sunday School curriculum in order to translate materials into a 30-lesson book, using Scriptures already in their language. Joyce and her friend Rita will be spending two months on the island with the Papuan women they trained, to evaluate their progress in literary efforts. Pray for all these endeavors.

For more info on Dave and Joyce see page 81 of the prayer guide.

Jeff & Lynne

Praise that Jeff received a 10-year visa allowing Lynne and him to continue ministering in their country. They will move to another city giving them better proximity to colleagues, schooling for their five children, and a possible open door to their next phase of ministry. Pray they will find suitable housing and be able to move in December and get their kids enrolled in the International School. Pray for an outpouring of response to prayer movements among local Christians.
