Dean & Kyria

Dean and Kyria are adjusting to their new ministry location and trying to stay up on the constantly changing regulations issued in a language still very foreign to them. The first task of a foreign assignment is learning the language, mostly through face to face contact, which they are unable to do with very strict stay at home policies. Phone and online communication in a new language requires a very high command of the language. Pray when the language school gets online that will be a help to them in adjusting and coping in a very strange place.

Heath & Angela

Heath and Angela want Tenwek to be a presence for their community that reflects the hope and peace we have in Christ by applying best practices in medical care. They had planned to attend medical conferences and a retreat, but all were cancelled, and they were left without their usual support from short-term visiting doctors. Pray God will use them to show His love to their patients in this difficult time and give them wisdom in the many challenging decisions to be made with limited resources and staffing.

George

Pray for George as he continues radiation treatment while overseeing the varied ministry of Glyfada Church in Athens. Pray they can continue the outreach to the massive refugee community while meeting the spiritual and daily needs of the unemployed small business owners, families and children. He is looking toward to engaging in some online training for five interns at the church.

Paul & Violette

Pray for a speedy recovery for Paul who has been suffering from bronchitis. With the cancellation of classes, he has been able to move forward with the translation project he is doing for a fellow missionary. They are grateful their pastor’s wife’s surgery was successful and she is back home now with her newborn. Pray for wisdom for Paul and Violette on how to minister to church members and to use the time for God’s glory in bringing more Japanese to Him.

For more info on Paul & Violette see page 24 of the prayer guide.

Nicole

Nicole has seen blessings come from the forced restrictions as her ministry has taken on more of a shepherding role with people desperate for community and peace. She shepherds a group of five ladies in her church via weekly Zoom meetings. Pray people will find community and fellowship with one another through virtual shepherding groups and for house churches all over the country to be a blessing to their communities during this time. Pray for her grandfather in the hospital with dengue fever.

Raju / Kachhwa

With the closing of borders, foreign teammates left leaving Dinesh as the only senior doctor at Kachhwa hospital. Pray his colleague who was on leave when the borders were closed can return. Pray for Raju and the hospital staff as they are at higher risk and largely working in the dark without available testing and proper protective wear.

Andy & Brooke

Worldwide restrictions have resulted in unique approaches for the launch of CO Serve on different continents. Andy has been encouraged by the opportunities staff are finding in the middle of all the uncertainty through creativity, leadership and a commitment to keep on loving and serving. In the post-COVID world there will be much ministry and laborer training to be done and they are working on how to deploy staff currently waiting due to travel restrictions. As a result, they launched a 40-day season of prayer for CO worldwide and ask us to join them.

For more info on Andy & Brooke see page 25 of the prayer guide.

David & Lisa

David and Lisa have been in lockdown since the end of January, but they have still found ways to encourage and build community. They have been vision casting and recommending a great method for house fellowships to meet, even in isolation, through Discovery Bible Studies. Pray for ministry to their mountain friends to reopen soon and for Bella’s care and growth. Pray for the health of their adult children in the US.

For more info on David & Lisa see page 30 of the prayer guide.

Scott & Tina

Though his family returned to the US, Scott remained in Addis Ababa providing necessary medical and surgical services at the large charitable hospital while continuing to teach residents and fellows at another hospital. Amid much uncertainty he and a small team were able to coordinate a large surgical campaign in southern Ethiopia, where in five days the staff screened thousands of patients and restored sight to 500 children and adults. Pray for wisdom and resources necessary to continue the work of bringing sight to the blind, and for comfort during this time of separation from family.

Enoch

For Enoch there is not only the disruption of ministry due to the COVID-19 virus, there is the personal component for his wife who is a physician in a county with many infected patients. The nursing home where she serves has been severely hit with infections. Pray for her protection and for the emotional well being of the entire family.

For more info on Enoch see page 34 of the prayer guide.
