George Tolias and Glyfada Evangelical Church give praise for the creative ways they are reaching out to the refugee population of Athens: The At Home Project which develops home based entrepreneurship for family support, The Cornelius Project which teaches Farsi, the language of many refugees in their area, and The BluPrint Project, which creates networking for the many seeking jobs. Pray for the staff as they have moved to three worship services on Sundays to accommodate Covid mandates. Pray for George and his team as they prepare to launch a theological education center planned for this fall.

Pray for new partners Sameh and Samah in Beirut. Praise God for the miraculous journey that He orchestrated for this couple to minister there. Pray for son Selim and for the Lord to grow them as a family of faith. Praise for the use of a car and an apartment for six months. Pray for Sameh as he teaches, leads in discipleship, and leadership development. Ask the Lord to provide the workers for their church, and for Beirut. They echo the prayer requests of other partners in Beirut who ask for earnest prayer to the Lord to provide the basics of life from food, water, electricity, fuel, etc.

Aaliyah was excited to surprise her parents with a visit this summer, and gives thanks for encouragement and rest after a difficult year of teaching through Covid in Ethiopia. Upon her return to Ethiopia pray for her continued adjustment and that the Lord will give her a great love for the Ethiopian people and deep relationships with her students. She and her colleagues taught VBS at another campus; ask the Lord to bring salvation through their efforts. Praise Aaliyah has taken her final exam to complete her Mdiv!  Ask the Lord to teach her the Amharic language, and to advance His Kingdom through her teaching in the new year.

Pray for the nation of Afghanistan and ask the Lord to protect His own. Pray for the Holy Spirit to move among the Taliban leaders bringing them to salvation. Pray for wisdom for nations to respond to this crisis for the sake of the Afghan people. Pray for the surrounding countries who will be absorbing Afghan refugees, particularly where Second has ministry partners. Ask the Lord to work amidst the chaos to deliver the people of Afghanistan from the domain of darkness into his marvelous light.

David and Lisa celebrate the work that Jesus is doing in the mountain people of their closed country. Praise God for testimonies of faith of people who came to Christ through the work of one group! Pray for David as he continues to meet with folks from Ethiopia, India and Quatar. Ask the Lord to move through the three women that Lisa is mentoring. David and Lisa were able to get vaccinated, but the Delta variant is beginning to get a foothold in their city. Pray that God would keep his children safe. Pray for Bella’s health and faith, and ask the Lord to pour out his Spirit on David and Lisa and those within their sphere of influence.

After much waiting, Jamila and her team have chosen an alternate path to their target country: Thailand. Visas have been obtained along with Covid vaccinations. They will go to Chiang Mai, which has a large population of their targeted people group. Pray for Jamila and her team as they begin teaching online as well as in person. Through all the waiting, Jamila feels more convinced than ever that the Lord will have her serving long term overseas. Pray that the Lord will confirm this in her spirit, and continue to draw her near, giving her what she needs to be found faithful.  Ask the Lord to work salvation through her and this team, to the praise of His glorious grace.

Lenden and Gemma are excited to announce their next mission assignment at a multi-cultural, Muslim focused church plant in Europe involved with immigrant and refugee ministry. The focus will be to develop a ministry among them on the university campuses. Lenden will become a teaching elder with the European Presbytery of the Intl Presbyterian Church, seeking to expand reformed and covenantal values. Ask the Lord to raise up a new generation of pastors and church planters to work among the refugee and immigrant populations of Europe. Praise God for sustaining them through Covid, and the transition from their previous deployment.  Ask the Lord to give them great joy as they serve Him.

John M. reports the mariculture evangelism team is encountering strong spiritual opposition. Pray for the Lord to encourage them each day and spread his protection over these families and the island people they are evangelizing. Covid has prevented John from returning to the field. Pray that the Lord would open doors again for travel and visas, and that he would provide experienced church planters to join the team. Praise God for the steady growth of the hatchery, their chosen vehicle for providing income for these people, as well as communicate the love of God offered through Jesus Christ. Ask Him to send His Spirit in great power to move among these people, transferring them from the darkness into the light of His Kingdom.

Robby and Joyce praise God that they are moving forward to replicate the work of the Philemon Project – GROW. The Lord has provided the means to buy property and open a second center in an underserved area of Beirut; pray as they close on the property this month. Continue to pray for the original GROW location which the Lord has used to impact the children and families of the area with the love of Christ. Ask the Lord to provide the workers for this second center, and to prepare the hearts of those who would believe. Pray for the advance of the Gospel through these immigrant populations and for God’s continued protection and blessing on Robby and Joyce.

Stephen asks prayer for safe and secure travel to the ME to spend the month teaching and encouraging MB believers. Pray for his preparations to teach on “The Existence of Evil and Pain” and “The Gospel of Prosperity”. Pray for the Lord to use these teachings to bring many into a deeper relationship with Him. Pray for continued good health for Belinda as she will be at home alone while he is away. Pray for Stephen as he will also speak at two U.S. conferences in October.
